Kežmarok Castle
Kežmarok Castle
Kežmarok Castle – a living castle in the heart of the city
Unlike most castles in Slovakia, here you won’t find a ruin on a hill, but a well-preserved castle right in the city center. Kežmarok Castle is the only completely preserved castle complex in the Spiš region and feels more like a noble residence than a military stronghold.
Its story begins in the 15th century when it was established as a defensive city castle. Over time, it transformed into a representative Renaissance residence of the nobility, particularly the Thököly family.
The result is a place where history is not only observed but also experienced.
